iPhone 5S: Sharp to begin production next month

Production of Apple’s new top-end iPhone is slated to begin next month, reports suggest, with electronics giant Sharp primed to begin production of LCD Displays for the device.
That’s according to Japanese paper Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, which says other providers are already hard at work on the so-called iPhone 5S.
Japan Display and LG Display are both rumoured to be augmenting Sharp’s supply of LCDs to Apple.

The iPhone 5S had been initially pegged for a summer release date, but that now appears to have slipped with Tim Cook recently intimating that Apple would release ‘exciting products’ in the autumn.
The delay in manufacturing the iPhone 5S is said to be down to the inclusion of a much-rumoured fingerprint sensor.
Analysts have claimed that getting this piece of tech right is the primary cause of the handset’s hold-up.
While iPhone 5S details remain sketchy, there is a general belief that it’ll follow the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4S in being an iterative update.
Either way, it seems Apple is happy to stick with its autumn release schedule.
That’s despite fears from tech watchers that in leaving updates so late it’s inviting rivals like Samsung and HTC to pump out more impressive phones.
