Verizon was the first wireless carrier in the
US to get the Samsung Galaxy Nexus back in December, but now its
time for another company to offer the Android 4.0 smartphone. Sprint
announced today that it will begin selling the Galaxy Nexus in its
stores on Sunday, April 22nd.
The
hardware for the Sprint version seems to be about the same as the older Verizon
version. It still has a 1.2 Ghz dual core processor, 1 GB of memory, 32 GB of
storage, a 4.65 inch touch screen and more. The Sprint version
supports both its current 3G network and its upcoming LTE network, which is
expected to launch in a few US
cities later this summer.
Pricing for the Sprint
version of the Galaxy Nexus will be $199.99 with a two year contract. However,
the price for the phone is technically even cheaper than that, thanks to the
smartphone's Google Wallet feature. Sprint customers who sign up for a Google
Wallet account within a week of activating the Galaxy Nexus will get a $10
Google Wallet credit immediately, plus another $40 in credit in three weeks.
The special offer ends on May 22nd.
You
can go ahead and pre-order
the phone from Sprint's website. Pre-orders will have the Galaxy Nexus shipped to them on
Friday, two days before the official launch of the smartphone.
